“The photographer makes the image.” This familiar saying is as relevant today as ever. Yet at the highest level of professional Fine Art photography, the technical craft behind an image is every bit as important as the creative vision itself.
Fine Art photography is often a deliberate and carefully considered process, with each image conceived, composed and meticulously planned well before the actual moment of capture. For a photographer who travels extensively, the challenge is to combine this level of precision with the mobility required to work in different locations without compromising image quality.
I therefore rely on Fujifilm’s GFX medium-format cameras, combined with Fujinon T/S lenses and Schneider-Kreuznach PC-TS lenses mounted via a Mirex Shift Adapter. This setup allows me to make full use of Dual-Axis Shift technology, achieving exceptionally high resolution and precise perspective control while capturing very wide fields of view without the perspective distortions typically associated with wide-angle photography. Schneider-Kreuznach PC-TS lenses incorporate optical technology developed for large-format photography, adapted for use with a 35mm camera mount. Manufactured in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, they are highly sophisticated optical instruments, combining complex construction with exceptional optical performance. Their size and weight are a natural consequence of this design, but these very qualities make them particularly well suited to a medium-format system such as the Fujifilm GFX.
